The AusIMM supports universities and Branches in presenting specialised awards, prizes and bursaries.

Reg Buckett Prize

Reg Buckett was noted for his contribution to metallurgical processes in the gold industry in Kalgoorlie. He was both an industry and educational leader and a past president of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy, and the Gold Producers' Association.

The Reg Buckett Prize is awarded to the two students assessed as having presented the best final year project in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mining Engineering) and the Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgical Engineering) courses at The Curtin University of Technology. Winners receive a certificate, and a plaque featuring The AusIMM medallion at their graduation ceremony. Applications through Curtin University.

Max Eden Bursary

The Max Eden Bursary honours Max Eden, founder of the Far North Queensland Branch and offers a prize of $1000 to support first year students from the Far North Queensland region who enter minerals industry related courses.  For information on how to apply for this bursary please respond via the feedback form.

Congratulations to the 2009 winner, Paul Kipriotis.  Paul has begun his studies this year in Geology at James Cook University in Townsville.
